The historical town of West Wickham predates the Norman conquest of 1066 with West Wickham even being mentioned in the doomsday book. The Manor House (Wickham Court) was once owned by the Boleyn family; Anne Boleyn famously being the 2nd wife of King Henry VIII. West Wickham Manor House is now home to Wickham Court Preparatory School.

West Wickham was a small village until the 1900s until the arrival of West Wickham railway station brought expansion and rapid development.
